"Christ, Good Shepherd, bread divine, show to us your mercy sign. Feed us still, still keep us thine that we may see your glory shine in the kingdom of good."
A
prayer, a praise, a cry, a supplication and a pleading. St. Thomas Aquinas opened his humble heart by
recognizing and praising Christ as the Good Shepherd and Divine Bread. I too, have to say that Christ for me is my
Good Shepherd and the divine bread in my life.
Night and day Christ as the Good Shepherd watches and guides me in the
right path. Christ as the Divine Bread
sustains me, strengthens me and have given me food for eternal life.
In this stanza of Lauda Sion, St. Thomas Aquinas here was pleading to Christ as the
divine bread to feed us still and keep us only for Him so that we may see the
glory of God in heaven. This feeding
literally means that Christ is the bread that came down from heaven, blessed,
broken and given to all as food for eternal life. Whoever believes in him might not perish but
may gain eternal life. It is through
Him, in Him and with Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and
ever…this we proclaim in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist everyday as a sign
of faith, hope and love. It is true, a
conviction and a cry in each one's heart.
It is my cry to be one with Christ, to be one with Him in paradise. Every day, I asked God for mercy despite of
my weaknesses and limitations to carry me always in his loving hands and never
let me fall down into the grave of temptation.
I believe his grace is enough for me.
As St. Paul says I can do all
things through Christ who strengthens me.
Also, for
me being a baptized Catholic, and more so as a consecrated religious sister, I
have that great responsibility to carry out my mission to proclaim Christ in my
life, in my deeds and in my heart, by being an example of love, of hope, and of
faith, living my evangelical vows to the fullest and by being like Christ to
others. This being like Christ to others
is a challenge not only for me as a religious by committing myself in leading
the flock draw more closer to Him for sustenance, for growth and for eternal
life. Being part of the body of Christ,
in my consecration I received the grace and blessings, I am also entitled to be
broken down into pieces so I may be able to reach out and be given to others
especially to the lost one. My life is
for Christ, my hope is Christ, my trust is in Christ, my love is only for
Christ and my future is to be with him in paradise. Lord Jesus Christ give me hope!
